   plasmonic metamaterial absorbers from dense gold nanoparticle stacks

چکیده    Gold nanoparticle solutions were used to make highly absorbing, dense nanoparticle stacks (dnps) using a simple and inexpensive solution cast method. uv-vis spectroscopy and reflection measurements were used to characterize absorption. the critical nanoparticle number necessary to obtain maximal absorption was determined for each sample. dnps metamaterials made from 18- and 44-nm-diameter particles exhibited broadband absorbances above 80 %, with the highest absorption of 95 % at 532 nm. the experimental absorption results agree well with finite-difference time-domain (fdtd) modeling.
