چکیده
|
The middle miocene locality in the fluvial deposits was discovered in the south-eastern part of lava village (chakwal,northern pakistan). the mammalian assemblage originating from this locality is described. the faunal association consists of rhinocerotids gaindatherium browni and brachypotherium fatehjangense,a suid listriodon pentapotamiae,a caprine kubanotragus sp,a bovid helicoportax cf. tragelaphoides,a tragulid dorcatherium,a giraffid giraffokeryx punjabiensis and a proboscidean deinotherium cf. pentapotamiae. the assemblage indicates the locality is middle miocene in age (ca. 14-11 ma) and it displays regional characteristics of the chinji formation of the lower siwaliks,pakistan. copyright 2011 zoological society of pakistan.
