Research on the relationship between environmental regulation and economic growth in Jiangsu Province,China

Environmental regulation is an effective way to alleviate the contradiction between economic growth and environmental protection. based on the current situation of environmental regulation in jiangsu province,and through the establishment of the econometric model,this paper carries out an empirical study of environmental regulation in jiangsu province. location quotient and economic growth contribution rate of typical pollution-intensive industries are chosen as two indexes to evaluate their development and environmental regulation performance in a scientific manner. finally,three conclusions are reached: first,despite some progress,the comprehensive environmental regulation in jiangsu province still lags behind the average level of the whole nation (china); second,strict environmental regulation policies can alter the shape of the environmental kuznets curve (ekc) and the position of the inflection point so as to contribute to a win-win outcome of economic growth and environmental protection under a relatively low environmental pollution level; third,to ease the pressure of environmental regulation,the formulation and implementation of environmental regulation policies should be combined with policies of optimizing the industrial structure. © 2013 pakistan journal of statistics.
