The appraisal model of competitiveness for the foundry industry in Taiwan

The foundry industry is an indicative industry in taiwan,as it earns huge foreign exchange for taiwan. however,after the breakout of the financial tsunami in the u.s. in 2007 that seriously hurt the foundry industry in taiwan,the management of each foundry company exerted their excellent operation capability in facing the storm,but since then some companies have begun to recede. therefore,the study aims to construct an appraisal model of competitiveness and analyze the competitiveness of each foundry company under the theoretical model of topsis by extracting information from the financial statements of listed companies and the general prospectus distributed at shareholders' meeting. after empirical analyses,the study finds that the top ranking companies in the competitiveness appraisal model indeed show better competitiveness and profit. on the contrary,those poor ranking corporations really present poor competitiveness and continue to lose operating profit. © 2013 pakistan journal of statistics.
