Medicinal folk recipes used as traditional phytotherapies in district Dera Ismail Khan,KPK,Pakistan

This paper is based on the results of an ethnomedicinal research work conducted in dera ismail khan (d.i. khan) district,khyber pakhtun khwa (kpk),pakistan,during may 2006 to march 2007. the study was focused for documentation of traditional knowledge of local people about the use of medicinal folk recipes of native plants. during field survey,questionnaires were used to interview the local inhabitants,older people including men and women both,who were familiar with traditional uses of indigenous plants. in total 40 new medicinal folk recipes of 26 plant species,belonging to 19 families were recorded. these folk recipes are used as traditional phytotherapies in the area. plant specimens were identified,preserved and vouchers were deposited in the department of botany,quaid-i-university islamabad for future references. results were systematically arranged by alphabetic order of botanical names followed by medicinal folk recipes. english name,local name,family name and voucher no.
