چکیده    The present study was carried out against aphid, myzus persicae (sulzer) (aphididae: hemiptera), on cabbage crop for evaluation of biosal 10ec, a neem formulation and naturalyte, spinosad 240sc in comparison with conventional insecticides, imidacloprid 25wp, endosulfan 35ec and profenofos 500ec. the crop was sown in a randomized complete block design with three replicates each having six treatments including a control. the crop was sprayed when the insect population reached at economic threshold level (etl). pre-spray data were recorded 24 hours before and post spray data were collected after 24, 72 and 168 hours of each spray. all the three conventional insecticides were found effective against cabbage aphid. the order of efficacy was found as imidacloprid > endosulfan > profenophos showing 90.41, 77.01, and 69.84% reduction in aphid population, respectively. azadirachtin based biosal performed well with 59.77% reduction, whereas spinosad was the least effective with 11.26% reduction of the aphid population. the comparative efficacy of biosal with other synthetic insecticides is discussed.
