Verse of najw? (secret talk) is among the verses that is controversial in its abrogation. some of the contemporary scholars do not regard the ruling of this verse as abrogated. ayatollah ma‘rifat is among those who have denied the abrogation of the verse in his latest views, believing that the ruling in this verse is an administrative one that has been legislated for specific conditions, a specific person, and a specific time and that ruling is not legal law (shari‘?) that shall not be altered. the verse of najw? contains a permanent and established message. this article, with firm evidence, especially from among traditions, proves the abrogation of the verse and well explains the fact that god revealed this verse in order to distinguish his wal?, imam ‘al?
