Prevalence of Sarcocystis Species in Some Birds in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic [Nahcivan Özerk Cumhuriyetinde Bazi{dotless} Kanatli{dotless}larda Sarcocystis Türlerinin Yaygi{dotless}nli{dotless}ǧi{dotless}]

In the current studies nakhchivan autonomous republic and towns of babek,culfa,ordubad and shahbuz as well as villages in nakhchivan province muscle samples were purchased from 86 housed hens,17 turkeys and held,6 hunted partridges together with 9 pigeons were examined for sarcocystis. macro cysts were evident in any of fowls examined. in analyses of breast neck leg and heart muscle samples digestion technique micro cysts were found in 24 out of 86 housed hens (28.6%) 3 out of 17 turkeys (17.6%) but was nit detected in partridges and pigeons. one species of macroscopic and microscopic sarcocystis cysts were observed in housed hens. s. horvathi cystic wall contained finger-like protrusions. banana shaped bradyzoites of the parasite were found to be 3.5 x 1.9 mm. housed the most of s. horvathi in hens was observed in blast muscles. in samples gained from of turkeys s. horvathi cysts were observed in beast muscles.
