The effect of body condition score on embryo quality of Holstein cows [Siyah Alaca ineklerde vücut kondüsyon skorunun embriyo kalitesine etkisi]

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of body condition score (bcs) on the embryo quality. in the experiment,the total of 65 holstein cows at different bcs were used. according to their bcs,the holstein cows were divided into three groups. the first,second and third groups consisted of 9 cows with bcs≤3,29 cows with 3 - 4 bcs (bcs = 3 and bcs = 4 not including) and 27 cows with bcs ≥4,respectively. it was found that,bcs did not effect on transferable embryo number,non-transferable embryo number,total embryo number,transferable embryo rate,non-transferable embryo rate (p>0.05). a low and insignificant correlation (r = -0.156,p = 0.215) were recorded between bcs and transferable embryos,non-transferable embryos (r = 0.186,p = 0.137),total embryo number (r = 0.007,p = 0.958),transferable embryo rate (r = -0.205,p = 0.101) and non-transferable embryo rate (r = 0.205,p = 0.101).
