Determination of the performance-grades of surface treatment binders in Turkey [Türkiye'de sathi kaplamalarda kullanilan bitümlerin performans siniflarinin belirlenmesi]

Bitumen industry inclines rapidly to grading of the performance of bitumen for all temperature conditions that may affect bitumen such as high,medium,and low temperatures by tests depending on mechanical and rheological properties rather than physical properties. contrarily in turkey,the grading system that depends on the penetration test for one single temperature value is still being utilized. in this study,surface performance grades (spg) are determined according to performance-graded binder specification for surface treatments developed by texas highway department; and spg bitumen selection table that shows which bitumen can be used in the surface treatments is established according to the maximum and minimum pavement temperatures for different penetration grade's bitumen samples belonging to kirikkale, izmit, aliağa, and batman refineries.
