چکیده

In this study, mechanical behaviors of helical springs made of carbon nanotube (cnt) additive epoxy resin composite reinforced with carbon fiber, instead of steel springs used vibration damping in machines, were investigated. especially, effect of cnt addition on the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composite springs were examined. firstly design parameters related to dimensioning of the helical springs were determined. for the analytical part, composite structures were obtained with addition of cnt of 0.00 %,0.05 %,0.10 % and 0.15 % into epoxy resin and reinforcing with carbon fiber. mechanical properties of the composite structures (young's moduli, shear modulus, poisson ratio) were computed by micromechanics. also,in the study, effects of the spring wire diameters and the spring stiffness values on the design parameters were investigated. the results obtained for composite springs were also compared with those of the geometrically equivalent steel ones. in the numerical part of the study, deformation values and distributions of shear stress were determined by using ansys software. according to the obtained results,it was seen that carbon fiber reinforced and cnt additive epoxy composite springs, known as lighter than steel springs, had better properties in terms of both deformations and shear stresses.
