چکیده    The leaves of eugenia jambolana (jamun- local name) were used as biosorbent for removing brilliant green dye from water. the biosorption process is carried out batch wise using different concentrations of the aqueous dye solution with varying biosorbent doses, initial ph of medium, agitation rate, contact time intervals and temperature. the effect of chemical treatment with acid and base on biosorbent efficiency is evaluated. binding efficiency of biosorbent is modified by using different solvents and chelating agents. the suitability of the biosorbent is tested by fitting the biosorption data on langmuir and freundlich isotherms. the results showed that the base treated eugenia jambolana leaf powder can remove maximum brilliant green dye from water,i.e. 5.128 mg/g of biosorbent.
