Synthesis of strontium carbonate and strontium chromate from the celestite ore

In present study,strontium carbonate of high purity (99.96 %) was synthesized by developing a simple and economically viable process,on treatment of 25-30% higher than stoichiometric ratio of na2co3 with upgraded strontium ore at 90°c for a duration of 90 minutes. strontium chromate was also prepared under controlled conditions by treatment of equimolar k2cro4 and srcl2 solution containing some additives,having ph 10 keeping at room temperature for 10 hours. rod-shaped,branch-shaped,bouquet-shaped and claw-shaped strontium chromate crystals were prepared through biomembrane/organic-ad dition supramolecular templates. the shapes of crystals are mainly changed with variance of the organic reagents and membranes.
