   Synthesis of activated carbon from Saudi date tree fronds by gaseous mixture (N2 and CO2)

چکیده    The single step procedure for the synthesis of micro porous activated carbon (ac) from saudi date tree fronds using mixture of gases (n2 and co2) at different carbonization/activation temperatures staring from 800°c to 1000°c and a ramp rate of 10 degree per minute,using alloy 330 horizontal reactor for tube furnace is studied. flow rate of both gases are kept at 100ml/min. the surface areas of the ac prepared at 800,900 and 1000°c after 15 minutes activation time are 194,487 and 620 m2/g,respectively. scanning electron microscopy for surface morphology,fourier transform infrared spectroscopy for functional groups and elemental composition of carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen (wt %) are also carried out that also verifies the same trend. moreover by increasing the activation temp the yield decreases from 23% to 20%.
