A steroidal-glycoside (spirotorvoside) has been isolated from the ethanol soluble part of solanum torvum (solanaceae) collected from ibadan (nigeria). structure of spirotorvoside was elucidated as 3-o-α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-3)-ß-d-quinovopyranosyl-3ß, 6α, 23-trihydroxy-5α-spirostane with the aid of spectroscopic techniques including two dimensional nmr experiments
