|
Quantitative phytochemical analysis of plant extracts of nicotiana plumbajnifolia was carried out and methanolic extracts was evaluated for their analgesic activity. phytochemical analysis showed that maximum amount of alkaloids were present in fruit extract (13.40 ± 0.3),flavonoids in leaves extract (17.50 ± 1.2),phenols in root extract (10.21 ± 0.7),saponins in leaves extract (09.24 ± 0.8),and tannins in roots extract (07.03 ± 0.01) of n. plumbajnifolia. analgesic activity of methanolic extracts of various parts of n. plumbajnifolia was evaluated by using inducing acetic acid writhing and hot plate models. results of analgesic activity indicated that the methanolic extract of root of n. plumbajnifolia exhibited maximum potential (81 %) by writhing test and results of hot plate model also indicated that maximum heat tolerance 15.98 ± 2.14∗∗ was observed by methanolic extract of steam of n. plumbajnifolia as compared to control 2.99 ± 0.33.
