بررسی تطبیقی شهود عرفانی شیخ شهاب‌الدین سهروردی با تجربه دینی ویلیام جیمز

یکی از مهمترین مسائل دین‌پژوهی در سده‌های کنونی، تجربه دینی (religious experience) است. پرسش اساسی در تجربه دینی به ویژه نوع عرفانی آن (mystical experience) ، میزان واقعیت متعلّق تجربه است. شهود که از گونه‌های تجربه‌های عرفانی به شمار می‌آید، از موضوع‌های برجسته در فلسفه و عرفان اسلامی است. این موضوع به ویژه در نظام فکری شهاب‌الدین سهروردی جایگاه ویژه و اساسی دارد. مساله پژوهش پیش‌رو که با استفاده از روش  توصیفی تحلیلی و با مراجعه به آثار فیلسوف غربی و کتاب‌های گوناگون شیخ اشراق صورت گرفته، مقایسه تجربه دینی از دیدگاه ویلیام جیمز با شهود عرفانی از دیدگاه سهروردی است. یافته‌های تحقیق نشانگر آن است که این دو، اشتراک‌ها و افتراق‌های مهمی با هم دارند. بیان‌ناپذیری و شخصی‌بودن، از اشتراک‌های این دو است. تفاوت در روش شناخت حقیقت، اختلاف در خاستگاه حصول و محل وقوع آن، از جمله اختلاف‌های این دو رویکرد است.

a comparative study of sheikh shahab al-din suhrawardi’s with william james’ religious experience

religious experience is considered as one of the most important issues in religious studies in recent centuries. the degree of experience-related reality is raised as a fundamental question in religious experience - especially mystical experience. intuition, which is considered a type of mystical experience, is considered one of the prominent topics in islamic philosophy and mysticism. this issue has a special and fundamental place, especially in the intellectual system of shahab al-din suhrawardi. the present study, which has been conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and referring to the works of the western philosopher and various books of sheikh ishraq, focuses on comparing religious experience from the perspective of william james with mystical intuition from the perspective of suhrawardi. according to the results of the present study, these two have important similarities and differences. some of the most important similarities between the two are ineffability and being personal. some of the most important differences between the two approaches are the difference in the method of knowing truth, the difference in the origin of its acquisition and the place of its occurrence.it is also found that religious experience is both a mystical experience
