   Neuroprotective effects of NGF combined with Gm1 on DRG and spinal cord neurons in sciatic nerve injured rats [Siyatik sinir lezyonu olan si{dotless}çanlarda NGF ile kombine Gm1'in DRG ve spinal kord nöronlari{dotless}na etkileri]

چکیده    The aim of the present study was to investigate the synergism effect of nerve growth factor(ngf) and monosiagangliosides (gm1) on dorsal root ganglion(drg) and spinal cord neurons in sciatic nerve injured animal model. ninety-six normal adult rats at the age of 6 months were randomly divided into 4 groups. ngf,gm1,ngf+gm1 and saline were given during and after operation and at 1w,4w,and 8w after operation,following examination were processed: the number of neurons of drg and anterior horn of spinal cord neurons were counted; the thickness of myelin sheath of regenerated nerve fibers of sciatic nerve was measured and the nerve conduction velocity (ncv) was measured.at 4w and 8w after operation,the morphology of neuron cells almost keep normal in the gm1 and ngf groups compared with that in injured group; the number of neurons was increased significantly in groups of ngf,gm1,ngf+gm1 than that in injured group; the thickness of myelin sheath of regenerated nerve fibers in sciatic nerve was increased significantly in groups of ngf,gm1,ngf+gm1 than that in injured group; the nerve conduction velocity (ncv) was increased significantly in groups of ngf,gm1,ngf+gm1 than that in injured group.ngf and gm1 had neuroprotective effects on neuronal normal structure and function of drg and spinal cord neurons. the neuroprotective effects of ngf combined with gm1 were more effective than that ngf or gm1 applied alone.
