Different changes of firing activities between ventral and dorsal medial prefrontal cortex in PD Rats [Parkinson hastali{dotless}kli{dotless} si{dotless}çanlarda ventral ve dorsal medial prefrontal korteks arasi{dotless}ndaki ateşleme aktivitelerinde farkli{dotless} deǧişiklikler]

In the present study,we examined the changes in the firing rate and firing pattern of pyramidal neurons in ventral and dorsal medial prefrontal cortex (mpfc) in 6- hydroxydopamine(6-ohda) lesions of the substantia nigra pars compacta (snc) in the rats by using extracellular recording. the lesion of the snc increased significantly the firing rate of pyramidal neurons compared with sham rats,and the firing pattern of these neurons also changed significantly towards a more bursty one in ventral mpfc but not in dorsal mpfc. taken together,these results suggest that the lesion of the snc leads to hyperactivity of pyramidal neurons in ventral mpfc but not in dorsal mpfc,suggesting the ventral mpfc may involve in the pathophysiology of the psychiatric disturbance of parkinson's disease more than dorsal mpfc.
