In summary,while the first materials reported might not have been useful clinically,the principle was demonstrated on natural and artificial lesions in vivo and in vitro. subsequent investigations have made considerable progress with the concept and resulted in a workable commercial material. the concept offers a real way forward and departure from invasive restorative treatments. some issues,however,indicated above are not completely resolved,with the result that,for the moment,treatment is likely to be limited to rather accessible and relatively superficial lesions. the future solution of these challenges will herald a new era of restorative dentistry. © 2011 international & american associations for dental research.
