چکیده    Helicobacter pylori (h. pylori) is a pathogenic bacterium that causes stomach cancer. recently, the importance of non-coding rna in the regulation of gene expression was indicated. however, all previous studies were conducted with pathogenicity island of h. pylori. in this study,we aimed to analyze the possible role of rnpb, one of the non-coding rna genes of h. pylori,in the pathogenicity of this bacterium. we amplified the caga, vaga, and rnpb genes by polymerase chain reaction to genotype the bacteria and sequenced the rnpb gene to find out the nucleotide changes for the potential effect on the pathogenicity of h. pylori. the dna sequence results of rnpb gene were used to find out the secondary rna structure of the gene by an online prediction program. our sequencing results demonstrated nucleotide changes in the positions between 29 and 49. these nucleotide changes caused secondary structural changes in rnpb rna. the data indicated that in two of the cases that secondary structural changes, which might have an impact on pathogenicity of the bacteria, may occur. a comparison of secondary structural changes and the pathological characteristics of bacteria showed that the rnpb gene of h. pylori might have a role in the pathogenicity of the bacteria.
