Lymphocyte proliferation studies of Canavalia gladiata lectin [Canavalia gladiata lektin'in lenfosit çoǧalma çali{dotless}şmalari{dotless}]

A class of proteins with specific binding sites,found mainly in plants called lectins,has recently moved to the forefront of biological research. lectins are of great interest to immunologists because of their ability to interact with lymphocytes and induce blast cell formation. in the present study lymphoblastic transformation and mitogenic stimulation of lectin isolated from the seeds of canavalia gladiata was carried out by setting up human lymphocyte culture. a final lectin concentration of 10μg/ml was found to be enough for mitogenic stimulation of human lymphocytes in cultures,thus yielding good quality chromosome preparations adequate for chromosome analysis.
