authenticity is a key concept, which is tied with many of today’s concerns. the book entitled return to authenticity; a necessity for work and organizational leadership at the present time authored by seyyed babak alavi is a rare piece in this domain, written with a scientific approach, in persian, and for university audiences, and it has been able to attract a notable spectrum of audiences. this book reviews the most important philosophical foundations, empirical science findings, and application principles with respect to authenticity. in this article, a critical reflection perspective is taken to critically review this book. accordingly, attention is paid to various elements in both the appearance and content of the book, and an analysis of strengths and weaknesses of arguments is offered for each chapter. particular attention is also paid to the biases in the book, especially those that are consequential for the offered discussions. in short, the most important advantages of the book are described in terms of its professional and literature-based approach. the most important areas for improvement of the piece are elaborated upon in terms of the absence of a historical-geographical perspective and a perspective rooted in social and critical theories.
