آسیب‌‌شناسی شیوه معادل‌‌گزینی در فرهنگ معاصر کیمیا

از جمله ویژگی‌‌هایی که فرهنگی یک‌‌زبانه را از فرهنگی دوزبانه متمایز می‌‌‌‌سازد، مقوله «معادل» است؛ مقوله‌‌ای که به تعبیری، مهم‌ترین ملاک در تعیین کامیابی یا ناکامی یک فرهنگ دوزبانه برشمرده می‌‌شود. به دلیل چنین اهمیتی است که این مقوله، معیاری اساسی در ارزیابی و نقد یک فرهنگ دوزبانه محسوب می‌‌گردد. بررسی فرهنگ‌های دوزبانه موجود بیانگر آن است که با وجود پیشرفت‌‌هایی ستودنی و قابل‌‌ملاحظه در عرصه تالیف فرهنگ‌‌های انگلیسی به فارسی، این روند کمتر در حوزه فرهنگ‌‌های فارسی به انگلیسی مشهود بوده است. بنابراین، در این مقاله ضمن معرفی اهمیت و تبیین ظرافت‌‌ها و دشواری‌‌های شیوه معادل‌‌گزینی در فرهنگ‌‌های دوزبانه، به‌‌ طور مشخص برپایه چهارچوب نظری پژوهش، از حیث شیوه معادل‌‌گزینی، به بررسی و نقد فرهنگ معاصر کیمیا: فارسی انگلیسی به ‌‌عنوان فرهنگی مرجع با ابعادی آموزشی که به دلایلی چند در یک دهه اخیر با اقبال کاربران همراه بوده، پرداخته شده است. یافته‌‌ها بیانگر آن است که این فرهنگ در هر دو حوزه «انتخاب معادل» و «نحوه ارائه معادل»، به ‌‌عنوان دو معیار گزینش و سنجش شیوه معادل‌‌گزینی، با کاستی‌‌هایی جدی همراه بوده است.

A Critical Study of Equivalent Selection Method in Kimia Contemporary Dictionary

Among the features which distinguish a monolingual dictionary from a bilingual one  is the status of “equivalents”. This feature is known as a main criterion in determining the success or failure of a bilingual dictionary. Thus, this criterion is introduced as one of the most significant criteria in any critical study and evaluation of bilingual dictionaries. Study of the present bilingual dictionaries reveals that despite the great breakthroughs in the development of EnglishPersian dictionaries, this trend cannot be seen in the field of PersianEnglish dictionaries. Therefore, while introducing the importance of equivalents as well as explaining the complexities and difficulties of equivalent selection in bilingual dictionaries,  this paper on the basis of the theoretical framework of the study, analyzed equivalent selection method in Kimia PersianEnglish Dictionary as a reference book with didactic dimensions that has attracted many users in recent years. The findings indicate that in both choosing equivalents and presenting them, as two subcriteria of the study, this dictionary suffers from serious shortcomings.
