In this work, the performance of ec with aluminum was investigated, to find the optimum operating conditions for treatment of oily waste waters. to reduce polarization and fouling phenomena were carried out around anode; types of circuits were investigated, novel pulse current, novel alternating pulse current and direct current. the influences of electrolyte dosage (ionic strength effect) were also investigated. several operational parameters, were studied to achieve a higher removal capacity. solutions of varying soluble oil concentrations with initial turbidities of 270-12100 ntu were prepared artificially. the best optimized condition to reach removal efficiency of 99.9% (based on turbidity) were obtained. equal turbidity removal efficiency was observed in pulse current and direct current. however energy consumption was minimum in the pulse current mode.
