2-alkyl-n-benzylidenehydrazinecarbothioamide,2-alkyl-n-(3-methoxy-4-methylben-zylidene)hydrazinecarbothioamide, 2-alkyl-n-methylenehydrazinecarbothioamide, 2-alky l-n-(furan-2-ylmethylene) hydrazinecarbothioamide, 2-alkyl-n-(2-hydroxybenzylidene) hydrazinecarbothioamide, 2-alkyl-n-(4-hydroxybenzylidene) hydrazinecarbothioamide, 2- alkyl -n-(3-methylbenzylidene)hydrazinecarbothioamide, 2-alkyl-n-(naphthalen-1-ylmethylene) hydrazinecarbothioamide of fatty acid hydrazides extracted from nontraditional oils- neem, rice bran and karanja were prepared. these newly synthesized schiff bases were characterized on the basis of elemental analysis and evaluated for biological performance. certain schiff bases fairly exhibited high antibacterial and antifungal activities when compared with streptomycin and imidil used as standard antibacterial and antifungal agents respectively.
