نقش ترجمه در پذیرش اشعار مولوی با ترجمۀ کُلمِن بارکس در امریکا

امرسون نخستین شاعر امریکایی بود که مولوی را به جامعۀ امریکا معرفی کرد. پس از امرسون، دیگر شاعران مکتب تعالی گرایی، ازجمله تورو، لانگفلو و ویتمن، به شعر صوفیان پارسی خاصه شعر مولوی روی آوردند. در قرن بیستم، مترجمان و شاعرانی نظیر دیوید مارتین، رابرت دانکن، مروین و رابرت بلای کوشیدند شعر مولوی را به جامعۀ امریکا بشناسانند. پس از آنان، در اوایل دهۀ 1980م، بارکس به کمک جواد معین و براساس ترجمه‌های آربری و نیکلسون، بخش هایی از اشعار عارفانه مثنوی، دیوان شمس و رباعیات مولوی را به فارسی ترجمه کرد. با انتشار ترجمه های بارکس در دهۀ 1980م، شعر مولوی در امریکا به شهرتی چشمگیر رسید. در جستار حاضر، کوشش شده است بر اساس پژوهش های بینارشته ای، یعنی مبانی نظری ادبیات تطبیقی و مطالعات ترجمه، پذیرش اشعار مولوی با ترجمۀ بارکس در امریکا بررسی شود. دلایل اقبال عام به شعر مولوی در امریکا را می توان به دو بخش داخلی و خارجی تقسیم کرد. دلایل داخلی به متن مبدا و نویسنده آن و دلایل خارجی به متن مقصد، مترجم و روح زمانه بازمی گردد. سه مورد مهم و اثرگذار در پذیرش ترجمه این اشعار عبارت‌اند از: 1. مضامین جهان شمول و متعالی؛ 2. ایماژهای نامتعارف و نامانوس؛ 3. شعر، موسیقی و سماع. توجه و اقبال به شاعر یا نویسنده‌ای در فرهنگ و زبان دیگر نه در خلا، بلکه به‌واسطه عوامل متعددی اعم از ادبی، فرهنگی، سیاسی و حتی اقتصادی اتفاق می‌افتد.

The Role of Coleman Barks’ Translation in the Reception of Rumi’s poems in America

Emerson was the first American poet who introduced Rumi to American literary circles in the early 19thcentury. After Emerson other American Transcendentalists e.g. Thoreau, Longfellow, Whitman began to study Persian mystical poetry especialy Rumichr('39')s poems. in 20thcentury translators and poets like Martin, Duncan, Mervin, and Bly tried to reintriduce Rumi to Amerian people. later, at the the early of 1980s Barks with the aid of Moyne, and based on Arberry and Nicholson scholarly translations tried his hand at retranslations of Rumichr('39')s poems. witout doubt, Barks renderings or retranslations made Rumi a very popular poet in America. In the present study the researcher tries to, on the basis of interdisciplinary studies, e. Cl and TS, investigate the reception of Rumichr('39')s poems, esp. Barks translations in America. Clearly, reception does not happen in a vaccume. liteary, cultural, social postions play a majoe rule. Rumichr('39')s reception in America revolvols on two sets of factors. The first series are related to the source text and the authour and the second series are concerned with the target text, transaltor, and the zeitgeist. One can refer to to the Rumichr('39')s universal and elegant themes and subjects, uncommom and bizare images and pictures on the one hand and factors like suitable room for eastern mysticisms, the selection of free verse for retranslation, and defamiliarizing Islam on the other hand.
