the paper aimed at studying and analyzing legislation and regulation of net neutrality in the us context. to put it simply, the principle assures free and equal access to content, application, and service providers and also internet consumers; in other words, one can define net neutrality as the treatment of customers by internet providers alike, in terms of content that they convey. on the one hand, proponents of the principle insist on its prominence to provide indiscriminate access, guarantee competition possible for newcomers, and protection of free speech, but on the other hand, opponents appeal to arguments like innovation and investment in the technical infrastructures. the results of the paper showed that despite the claim of free and open internet access in america, party tendencies and interests of politicians in this country play a significant role in the principle of net neutrality. as a result, tech companies spend a lot of money lobbying lawmakers. on the other hand, due to the global influence of telecommunications and internet policy in the united states, net neutrality can also have implications for global citizens and users.
