|
Tbis study investigates tbe request strategies used by persian learners of englisb as a foreign language(efl), aimed at exploring tbe pragmatic instruction effects on tbeir notidng constrained by different types oftreatment tasks. the subsequent effect of tbe learners' notidng on tbeir learning outcomes is taken into account aswed. tbirty learners were divided into two instructional (treatment) conditions: a form-eomparison condition and aform-seareb condition.discoursecompletion tests were used to generate data related to tbe request strategies used byeach group in pre- and posttests. tbe treatment data were examined regarding tbe extent to wbicb the learners badnoticed tbe appropriate manner of request realization in englisb and were furtber compared witb the posttest. thefindings revealed that during tbe treatment, the amount of learners' notidng the target request forms in the formcomparisoncondition was greater than the form-search condition. furthermore, learners' higher awareness of thetarget request forms in the form-comparison conditioncould lead tbem to have a better performance in their pesttest,
