یمکن نقد روایة سوشون للروائیة الایرانیة سیمین دانشور، من زوایا مختلفة. وبما ان هذه الروایة تصوّر حیاة عائلة ایرانیة ذات اعباء ثقافیة وعاطفیة غنیة فی اکثر الظروف الاجتماعیة خطورة، فقد تطلب الامر الى دراسة الروایة فی مجال علم النفس الانسانیhumanistic psychology، خاصة انه یمکن ایضاً دراستها من خلال التاکید على نظریة ابراهام ماسلو. فی هذا المقال، قامت الباحثة بدراسة الشخصیة الانثویة الرئیسة فی روایة سوشون بطریقة وصفیة تحلیلیة بناءً على نظریة ماسلو. وبحسب نتائج هذه الدراسة، بما ان بیئة النمو والتحول اصبحت معدومة فی القصة، وازدهار البطلة الانثویة ووجود زوجة ثوریة وحرة، کان ساعد على تنشئة شخصیتها الداخلیة وتنمیتها لتحقیق الکمال البشری، لذلک، فان تطور شخصیتها بمراحل مختلفة ینطبق مع هرم ماسلو ودراسته من هذا المنظور.
