جاناتان براون به نقد حدیث توجه ویژه نشان داده و در بررسی‌های علمی، به الزامات و تتبع دارقطنی نیز پرداخته است. این مقاله دیدگاه و موضع وی را در مورد رویکردها و روش‌های نقد حدیث در الزامات و تتبع دارقطنی می‌کاود. گردآوری اطلاعات در این اثر به روش کتابخانه‌ای- رایانه‌ای و پردازش آن‌ها به روش توصیفی‌تحلیلی است. براون شناخت عقیده و روش‌ دارقطنی را با مطالعۀ آثارش به‌ویژه الزامات و تتبع دنبال می‌کند. براون درمی‌یابد رویکرد دارقطنی به حدیث، اغلب پرداختن به سندهاست؛ در روش‌شناسی نیز بیشتر آثارش ناظر به سند و علل‌ آن یا وضع و هویت راویان است، افزایش را هم برای سند و هم برای متن می‌پذیرد. براون باور دارد جامع‌ترین دفاع طرفداران حدیث از صحیحین این است که انتقاد دارقطنی، تنها در موارد استثنایی پذیرفتنی است. براون با رویکرد تبیینی‌تحلیلی و اطلاع‌رسانی بی‌طرفانه به این باور می‌رسد که دارقطنی با نگارش الزامات و تتبع ثابت کرده است شیفتۀ صحیحین بوده است؛ بنابراین عقاید او در نقد صحیحین، نقش قابل اعتنایی نداشته، بلکه بررسی و اصلاح ‌دارقطنی ناشی از دقت عمل او در بررسی حدیث بوده است.

jonathan brown has paid special attention to the critique of the hadith and has also addressed ilzāmāt and tatabbu’ of dārequtnī in a scientific survey. this article explores his position about approaches and methods of hadith criticism in dārequtnī’s ilzāmāt and tatabbu’. the collection of information is descriptive-analytical by computer-library method in the wor(ع). brown follows dārequtnī’s belief and methodology by studying his wor(ع)s, especially ilzāmāt and tatabbu’. brown finds that his approach to hadith is often to deal with isnads and narrations; he also shows in his methodology that most of his wor(ع)s deal with the isnads and its causes or the status and identity of the narrators, he accepts the increase, both for the isnad and for the content. of course, the most comprehensive defense of the scholars from șaḥīḥayn was that dārequtnī’s criticism is acceptable only in exceptional cases. with an analytical and unbiased informational, brown reaches to this belief that dārequtnī has proved he considered hadith to be the product of sanads by writing ilzāmāt and tatabbu’, and therefore dārequtnī’s ideas did not play a significant role in șaḥīḥayn criticism, instead practically and publicly these corrections have been resulted from his accuracy in studying hadith.
