تحویل‌گراییِ اخلاق نسبت به دین در فلسفۀ دیوید هیوم: کوششی برای شفاف‌سازی نسبتِ دین و اخلاق در فلسفۀ دیوید هیوم

با نگاهی به اخلاق‌شناسی در فلسفۀ جدید، شاهد دو دیدگاهِ استقلال‌گراییِ اخلاق نسبت به دین و تحویل‌گراییِ اخلاق نسبت به دین در طیف‌های مختلف آن هستیم. بلندپروازی هیوم برای تثبیت علم اخلاق، در جدال بین جاه‌طلبی‌های طبیعت‌گرایانه و داوری‌های شکاکانۀ وی، اخلاق را نه‌تنها مستقل از دین نشان می‌دهد، بلکه دین را مخرب اخلاق نیز معرفی می‌کند. در این مقاله، با توجه به دیدگاه‌های متعدد موجود در باب نسبت دین و اخلاق در فلسفۀ هیوم، در پی یافتن موضع شفاف و منسجمی بر اساس آثار اصلی خود هیوم، مدافعان و منتقدان او خواهیم بود. یافته‌های ما، با تکیه بر دیدگاه معتدلِ هیوم درباب اخلاقِ عقل‌گرایانه و خداباوری نهان وی، حاکی از آن است که اخلاق در نظام فکری و فلسفی هیوم، در نهایت چیزی مستقل از دین و خدا نیست. به‌عبارت بهتر، هیوم کلِ دین را به ترکیب اخلاق و فلسفه فرومی‌کاهد و از جنبه‌های اخلاقی و عقلانی دین دفاع می‌کند و وجود سایر جنبه‌ها و ابعاد را زائد می‌داند. براساس شواهد نشان داده‌شده در این مقاله، بهتر آن است که هیوم را در ردیف قائلان به دیدگاهِ تحویل‌گراییِ اخلاق به دین، آن هم در مرتبه و طیف خاصی از آن قرار دهیم.

ReligionSensitive Morality in the Philosophy of David Hume: An Attempt to Unmask the Relationship between Religion and Morality in the Philosophy of David Hume

In the ethical view of modern philosophy, there can be seen two aspects of morality; religionfree morality and religionsensitive morality. Despite the disagreement between his naturalist ambitions and his extreme skeptical principles, Hume’s aspiration to stabilize moral science tends to show that morality is not only independent of religion, but also is destructed by it. The main objective of this paper is to unmask the relationship between religion and morality based on the works of Hume, his critics, and his supporters. The findings of this paper, based on Hume’s moderate view of commonsense morality and his undercover belief in God, indicate that morality for Hume is not ultimately independent of religion and God. In other words, Hume reduces the whole religion to a combination of morality and philosophy, defends the morality and rational aspects of religion, and deems other aspects and dimensions as unnecessary. Finally, according to the evidences used in this article, it is better to put Hume in a specific rank of the religionsensitive moral philosophers.
