هایدگر در اولین درسگفتار خود پس از جنگ جهانی اول به طرح پرسشی می‌پردازد که نقطه‌ای تعیین‌کننده در فلسفه را مشخص می‌کند: «آیا چیزی داده می‌شود؟» بدین ترتیب هایدگر مساله‌ی دادگی را چنان طرح می‌کند که با سرنوشت پدیدارشناسی پیوند می‌خورد. هر تعینی که در این پرسش به دادگی بدهیم، ما را به ورطه‌ای در تقابل با ورطه‌ای دیگر می‌کشاند؛ یکی به سوی فلسفه در مقام علم به اشیاء و ابژه‌ها و دیگری فلسفه در مقام مدخلی برای تجربه‌ی «جهان». در این نوشتار می‌کوشیم اهمیت پرسش از دادگی نزد هایدگر را مشخص کنیم، نقد وی بر تعاریف نوکانتی از دادگی را بررسی کنیم و در نهایت روشن کنیم، از دیدگاه هایدگر محتوای راستین «آن می‌دهد/es gibt» در پدیدارشناسی چه می‌تواند باشد.
