Broad realm of security concept in cyber space has ingrained in five areas of political, economic, cultural, social and judicial fields and lack of coherent policy package for proactive management of potential threats in cyberspace can be the foundation for the optimal development but with serious challenges. on the other side, high impact of fixing legislative, regulatory and administrative gaps of managing social security threats in the cyber space is operationalized when be in line with six factors of superior documents, multi-sectoral, macro-looking, strategic, goal-oriented (intellectual coherence) and plan-oriented features. any superficial look at the threats of cyber space will be the formation of crisis in five areas of dignity, legitimacy, influence and participation and distribution in major policies. today, social networks which are the product of technological development have a special place in the soft war. the importance of these networks is that they are used as a means of subversion and decay and are considered as the agenda in many hostile countries; although they are not safe against the threats, as well. social networks due to their horizontal nature, suffer from lack of leadership, therefore each member may act based on his or her own views or may refer to other members and take the modeling. the present paper aims at exploring the importance of modern media, cyber war and its features, and clarifying the role of social networks in soft wars. the researcher also investigates the nature of social networks and why they are widely welcomed by iranian users.
