|
Aseries of polyurethane rigid foams containing calix[4]arene derivatives weresynthesized. the mechanical properties of polyurethans were investigated.incorporation of calixarenes into polyurethane backbones improved themechanical properties of the polyurethanes as a result of the residual phenol hydroxylgroups of the calix[4]arenes units. comparison with unmodified polyurethane foams,the polyurethanes containing calix[4]arene derivatives had lower elongation atbreak, higher elastic modulus, and tensile strength. these additional properties wereattributed to incorporation of calix[4]arene units which increased hard segments in thepolyurethane foams
