بررسی تطبیقی فضای پساآخرالزمانی در رمان جاده اثر کورمک مک‌کارتی، اسطوره جام مقدّس و پادشاه ماهیگیر

رمان جاده اثر کورمک مک‌کارتی، آکنده از فضایی پساآخرالزمانی و خاکستری است. آثار این نویسنده با واقعیت عجین‌ شده‌‌اند؛ اما فضای این داستان دهشتناک و متفاوت از دیگر آثارش است. پس از خواندن این رمان، هراسی در دل مخاطبان می‌افتد که چه بر سر دنیا می‌آید و این سوال مطرح می‌شود که آیا راهی برای نجات انسان در این عصر پساآخرالزمانی رعب‌انگیز وجود دارد؟ مک‌کارتی وقایعی را توصیف می‌کند که معتقد است سرنوشت محتوم بشری است. او سفر پدر و پسری را روایت می‌کند که در دنیای بعد از تمدن، برای بقا دست و پا می‌زنند. مقاله حاضر با رویکرد تحلیلی تطبیقی، با هدف اثبات وجود همانندی در رمان پسامدرن جاده و اسطوره‌های کهنِ جام مقدّس و پادشاه ماهیگیر نگاشته شده است. در این پژوهش، تنها بر خصوصیات پسامدرن جاده تاکید نشده، بلکه بر اسطوره‌هایی معطوف است که کهن‌تر و مهمتر هستند. در دنیای پسامدرن که سراسر ویران گشته، راه رستگاری بشر، رجعت به اسطوره‌ها و تعالی‌یافتن او است. جهانی که بر اساس سود و مصلحت فردی بنا شده محکوم به فنا است. نتیجه تحقیق نشان می‌دهد که تنها راه نجات بشر بنای اصول اخلاقی جدید، فارغ از مصلحت‌اندیشی بر پایه اصالت سودآوری است. در واقع پادزهر این جهان سودازده، چیزی جز رحم‌کردن به دیگران نیست؛ به عبارت دیگر، بشر برای ادامه بقا، نیازمند مهربانی، عشق و شفقت بدون حسابگری است.

the comparative study of postapocalyptic atmosphere in the novel the road by cormac mccarthy and the myths of the holy grail and the fisher king

cormac mccarthy’s the road, with its ashen, postapocalyptic landscape, seems a conspicuous exodus from the realism of his earlier novels. its horrendous atmosphere frustrates the readers and forces them to ask: what really has happened to the world? and is there any kind of salvation for modern man after the horrific postapocalyptic era? in this novel mccarthy portrays some events which he thinks they are the impossible fate of human beings. he narrates a journey of a father and a son who try to survive after the civilization has been wiped off the face of the earth. the present study has analyticcomparative approach and its main objective is to prove that there is a close relationship between the postmodern novel of the road and ancient myths of the holy grail and the fisher king. in this research the emphasis is not on the characteristics of the road as a postmodern novel, but on the myths which are older and more significant. in the postapocalyptic world which everything is ruined, the only remedy of human being is seeking transcendentalism through myths. the world created upon individual benefit and expediency is doomed. the result of this research reveals that the only salvation for man is to build new moral principles regardless of individual benefit. in fact, the antidote which can cure this melancholic world is nothing but to have mercy upon others; in other words, for survival we need to have compassion and love for others without any condition or calculation.
