بررسی آگاهی و عملکرد دندانپزشکان عمومی یزد در مورد مالتیپل اسکلروزیس در سال 1399

مقدمه: مالتیپل اسکلروزیس به عنوان یک بیماری نورودژنراتیو، تظاهرات دهانیصورتی متعددی دارد. این عوارض می تواند توانایی بیمار برای حفظ بهداشت دهان و همکاری در مطب دندانپزشکی را با مشکل مواجه کند. مطالعه حاضر، با هدف بررسی آگاهی و عملکرد دندانپزشکان عمومی در مورد مالتیپل اسکلروزیس در یزد انجام شد.مواد و روش­ها: در این مطالعه ی توصیفیمقطعی، 105دندانپزشک عمومی شاغل در شهر یزد بطور تصادفی انتخاب شدند و میزان آگاهی و عملکرد درخصوص درمان های دندانپزشکی بیماران دارای مالتیپل اسکلروزیس با استفاده از یک پرسشنامه محقق ساخته حاوی مشخصات دموگرافیک، 13سوال آگاهی و 10 سوال عملکرد، مورد مطالعه قرار گرفت. داده ها به کمک آزمون های آماری t و ضریب همبستگی پیرسون تجزیه و تحلیل شدند.یافته‌ها: از 105 دندانپزشک شرکت کننده در مطالعه، 46.7% مرد و 53.3% زن بودند. میانگین سنی آنها 4.47±30.09 سال و میانگین سابقه کارشان 3.59±4.84 سال بود. میانگین نمره آگاهی دندانپزشکان 2.54±14.39 (بیشترین نمره ممکن 26) و میانگین نمره عمکرد آنها 2.16±12.45 ( بیشترین نمره ممکن 20) بود. ارتباط بین نمرات آگاهی و عملکرد مستقیم و معنادار بود (0.232=r، 0.022=p). تفاوت آماری معناداری بین میانگین نمره آگاهی و عملکرد دندانپزشکان بر حسب جنس، گروه سنی و سابقه کارمشاهده نشد (0.05<p).نتیجه‌گیری: بر اساس نتایج مطالعه حاضر، میزان آگاهی و عملکرد دندانپزشکان در مورد بیماران مبتلا به مالتیپل اسکلروزیس در حد کم تا متوسط بود.بنابراین همکاری بین رشته ای در برگزاری دوره های باز آموزی جهت بالاتر بردن سطح آگاهی و متعاقب آن، عملکرد دندانپزشکان عمومی ضروری است.

Assessment of Knowledge and Practice among General Dentists Concerning Multiple Sclerosis in Yazd, Iran, In 2020

Introduction: Multiple sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disease that has multiple orofacial manifestations. Its complications could make difficulties in the ability to keep oral health and patients’ cooperation in the dental office. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and practice among general dentists concerning multiple sclerosis in Yazd, Iran, in 2020.Materials and Methods: This crosssectional descriptive study randomly selected 105 general dentists working in Yazd, Iran. A researchermade questionnaire was used to seek such information as demographic characteristics, knowledge (13 questions) and practice (10 questions) among general dentists concerning dental treatments in patients with multiple sclerosis. The data were analyzed in SPSS software (version 17) using ttest and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Results: Of 105 participants 46.7% were male and 53.3% were female. Out of 105 dentists, the majority (53.3%) of the cases were male. The mean±SD age and work experience of the participants were 30.09±4.47 and 4.89±3.59 years, respectively. Moreover, the mean scores of knowledge and practice were determined at 14.39±2.54 (maximum possible score=26) and 12.45±2.16 (maximum possible score=20), respectively. There was a significant and direct relationship between knowledge and practice (r=0.232; P=0.022). Knowledge and practice did not show a significant relationship with gender, age group, and work experience (P>0.05).Conclusion: According to the results, dentists had low to moderate knowledge and practice levels regarding patients with multiple sclerosis. Therefore, it is necessary to implement educational programs with interdisciplinary collaboration to promote the knowledge and practice of general dentists.
