the massive asymptomatic myo-pericardium hydatid cyst: a rare case report

Introduction: cardiac hydatid cyst is an exceptionally rare condition in both developed and developing countries. here, we present a case of a massive, asymptomatic myocardial hydatid cyst in a middle-aged man. case presentation: a 51-year-old man presented to the emergency department (ed) with complaints of exertional dyspnea and recurrent palpitations. he reported experiencing atypical chest pain. echocardiography revealed a large mass in the posterolateral portion of the left ventricular wall and a giant mass in the basal portion of the posterior left ventricular wall. a ct scan confirmed the presence of massive cysts, measuring approximately 7.50 × 5.19 cm. the patient underwent cardiac surgery for the excision of multiple cysts of varying sizes, with no involvement of other organs. conclusions: early diagnosis followed by precise surgical intervention is essential for cardiac hydatid cysts, even in asymptomatic cases. this approach can help prevent potential life-threatening complications in patients.
