Abstract
objective: the aim of the present study was to identify the consequences of teaching ecological literacy to elementary school students and to investigate the factors affecting its institutionalization (redesigning the curriculum, empowering human resources, attracting comprehensive participation, and creating rich learning environments). research method: this study was quantitative and conducted with a correlation and multiple regression approach. the statistical population included parents, principals, and teachers of elementary schools in ilam city. the sample size was determined using the cochran formula and was 384 people and selected using simple random sampling. the data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire with 25 items, whose reliability was confirmed with a cronbach's alpha of 0.92. the data were analyzed with spss software and kolmogorov-smirnov tests (for normality), pearson correlation, and multiple regressions. research findings: the results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship (p<0.001) between all independent variables (curriculum redesign r = 0.72, human resource empowerment r = 0.68, creating rich learning environments r = 0.66, and attracting comprehensive participation r = 0.64) with the institutionalization of ecological literacy. the multiple regression models also explained 67% of the variance in institutionalization (r² = 0.67) and the strongest predictor was curriculum redesign (β = 0.31).conclusion: teaching ecological literacy in elementary school has positive outcomes, and its institutionalization requires systematic and coordinated action in four areas: curriculum, human resource, learning environment, and community participation. the main priority is to redesign the curriculum (integrated, project-based, and experience-based) and then empower teachers and parents.
