a technical and economic evaluation of water transmission alternatives to sang-kalidar village using bentley hammer

Authors
Abstract    this study focuses on the design of a water supply system for the village of sang-kalidar,located in the robat district of sabzevar county. the village previously relied on atraditional qanat system, which has become ineffective due to declining groundwater levels.to address this, a new well was drilled, and three different water transmission scenarios fromthe well to the main storage tank were modeled and analyzed using bentley hammersoftware. each scenario was evaluated in terms of node pressure, water hammer effects, anddynamic behavior. the simulation results were post-processed and spatially analyzed usinggis tools.an economic assessment was then conducted based on the 2025 (1404 sh) cost estimatesfor each scenario. the results showed that although the first scenario (direct transmissionwithout an intermediate tank) was the least expensive, it lacked operational resilience. incontrast, the second scenario, which includes an intermediate tank midway along the route, provided better hydraulic stability and operational control despite its higher cost.consequently, scenario 2 was selected as the optimal alternative. this study demonstratesthat combining hydraulic simulation, economic evaluation, and gis-based spatial analysisoffers an effective framework for the optimal design of rural water supply systems.
