Abstract
sonar data processing technology has been developed to detect targets with unstable echoes, which are not reliable enough in traditional tracking methods. in recent years, the use of artificial intelligence algorithms has led to significant improvements in underwater target detection performance, especially compared to conventional sonar methods that face limitations in accuracy and stability. focusing on complex problems such as marine target detection, this study uses an advanced artificial neural network model based on multilayer perceptron and investigates the effect of network architecture, especially the number of layers, on sonar data classification efficiency. the performance of the proposed model has been evaluated through a comprehensive comparison with basic machine learning models and hybrid approaches. considering the diversity of targets and databases, the average detection rate was selected as the main evaluation criterion. analytical criteria including accuracy, coverage, f1-score, and precision were also analyzed to substantiate the superiority of the proposed model compared to existing methods.
