چکیده    Gravity block quay walls are essential in maintaining the smooth operation of contemporary ports and harbors. in this regard, the stability of gravity dams against sliding, overturning, and the bearing capacity needs to be ascertained. each international standard has its own approach and assumptions, which can lead to differences in recommended safety factors. the study deals with the design of a gravity block quay wall in an existing port in persian gulf. the calculated safety factors (sf) for sliding, overturning, and bearing capacity were compared with the international recommendations of usace em 1110-2-2504 / 2502 (usa), eurocode7 (europe), bs 6349 (uk) and tscphf / phri (japan) to check compliance. the conservatism of the four international codes is analyzed according to the specific geotechnical characteristics in the persian gulf. the results can be used by practicing engineers to interpret international codes and make design decisions for ongoing port projects.
