Centrifugal pump systems in coastal and offshore installations often operate under environmental conditions that are not fully addressed by current international standards. while standards such as api 610 / iso 13709 and iso 9905 provide detailed requirements for industrial centrifugal pumps, they lack specific guidance for marine applications in hot and humid coastal regions. this study presents a numerical evaluation of a representative multistage centrifugal pump under simulated persian gulf conditions, including seawater temperatures around 34 °c, salinity of approximately 35 psu, and high ambient humidity. purpose-built computational simulations were conducted to assess hydraulic performance and corrosion susceptibility, with results compared against standard testing assumptions. the analysis shows a measurable decrease in hydraulic efficiency, ranging from 4 to 7%, and highlights areas of localized corrosion on wetted surfaces. these findings underline the need for region-specific qualification criteria and provide a foundation for developing preliminary guidelines for marine pumps tailored to the challenging operating conditions of the persian gulf. such guidelines could improve pump reliability, extend service life, and support safe and efficient offshore operations.
