Abstract    the present study aimed to investigate the simultaneous interaction of cognitive and emotional processes in the human brain. in this study, electroencephalography (eeg) was used as a non-invasive method to record instantaneous changes in brain waves. eeg data from 26 individuals in four activities including watching happy and sad stories and typing answers to related questions were collected and analyzed in the theta, alpha, low beta, high beta, and gamma bands. the power of the bands in the frontal, occipital, parietal, and temporal regions was calculated, and the theta to alpha ratio was examined as an indicator of cognitive load. statistical analysis was performed using anova, tukey, and pearson correlation coefficient analysis. based on the results, alpha power was highest in the frontal region and decreased significantly in the second activity. the theta to alpha ratio was also lowest in the second and third activities, indicating increased concentration in these activities. analysis of variance confirmed significant differences in some bands, especially frontal alpha. correlation analysis showed that the activities produced distinct brain patterns. these findings suggest that the simultaneous interaction of emotion and cognition causes meaningful changes in brain patterns and can be used in the development of clinical and technological applications based on eeg, such as brain-computer interfaces and cognitive and emotional state monitoring.
