Normal chronic consumption of excessive amounts of fructose leads to the development of characteristic components of metabolic syndrome – obesity, hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, carbohydrate intolerance and dyslipidemia, which is the basis for the use of herbal preparations for its correction. purpose of the study to study the effect of galega officinalis l. extract on body weight dynamics and morphological composition of blood in rats with induced metabolic syndrome in order to assess its potential as a means for the correction of metabolic disorders in veterinary practice. the experiments were performed on white outbred rats of both sexes with an average weight of 180–200 g. metabolic syndrome was modeled by replacing drinking water with a 20% fructose solution. the animals were divided into groups: intact control, positive control and two experimental groups, which were administered galega officinalis l. extract or phytopreparation arfazetin. during the experiment, changes in body weight were recorded and hematological parameters were determined according to generally accepted methods in compliance with the principles of bioethics. it was found that after 8 weeks of use of 20% fructose solution (instead of drinking water) in rats with ms (group ii), the body weight was 35.7% higher than the control, while in the case of the use of herbal preparations this indicator was slightly lower and in the iii experimental group (under the conditions of use of arfazetin at a dose of 100.0 mg/kg of body weight) was 22.3%, and in the iv experimental group (under the conditions of use of galega officinalis extract at a dose of 125.0 mg/kg of body weight) – 7.7%, respectively (p<0.05). relative to the positive control, the average weight of intact rats (group i) was lower by 26.3%, while in the case of the use of herbal preparations (arfazetin and galega officinalis extract) (groups iii and iv) the decrease was 9.9 and 21.6%, respectively (p<0.05). when using hypoglycemic herbal preparations, significant changes were also found: with the administration of galega officinalis extract, the weight of rats was 11.9% lower than with the administration of arfazetin (p<0.05).
