چکیده    Flavonoids are compounds naturally found in plants, often giving them their vibrant colors (such as yellow, blue, purple, and red). they belong to the polyphenolic phytochemical class, which is highly beneficial for human health. flavonoids constitute a large portion of the most researched polyphenols in recent years. over 5,000 flavonoids have been identified today. flavonoids are abundant in the human diet in foods such as fruits, vegetables, tea, flowers, seeds, nuts, wine, honey, propolis, and cocoa. these compounds, which support human and animal health and help reduce the risk of disease, have been used throughout history in the treatment of various diseases. the relationship between the structural properties of flavonoids and their biological functions explains their fundamental activities. flavonoids possess many impressive and beneficial biological activities. the basis of these benefits lies in their role as powerful antioxidants. antioxidants combat free radicals in the body, preventing cell damage. this, in turn, helps reduce the risk of many chronic diseases. in addition, thanks to their anti-inflammatory, anticancer, cardioprotective, antibacterial, antiviral, hepatoprotective, and neuroprotective properties, they are considered as potential therapeutic agents in the prevention and treatment of many chronic diseases.
