   the effect of beta-caryophyllene on mda levels and sod, gsh, and gpx activities against lead acetate-induced nephrotoxicity

چکیده    Normal in this study, an experimental nephrotoxicity model was created in rats using lead acetate (pbac) to evaluate the effects of pbac on oxidative stress and tissue damage in kidney tissue. in addition, the potential protective role of beta-caryophyllene (bcp), a natural sesquiterpene, against this toxic effect was investigated. the experiment used a total of 50 adult male sprague-dawley rats. the animals were divided into five groups: control group (physiological saline), bcp group (400 mg/kg bcp, intragastric), pbac group (30 mg/kg pbac, oral), bcp200+pbac group (200 mg/kg bcp + 30 mg/kg pbac), and bcp400+pbac group (400 mg/kg bcp + 30 mg/kg pbac). at the end of the experiment, kidney tissue samples were collected from the animals, and malondialdehyde (mda), superoxide dismutase (sod), glutathione (gsh), and glutathione peroxidase (gpx) levels were measured in these samples. in the pbac-treated group, a significant increase in mda levels was observed, while a marked decrease in sod, gsh, and gpx activities was detected. it was determined that bcp administration reduced mda levels and increased sod, gsh, and gpx activities. the findings suggest that bcp may exert a protective effect against pbac-induced nephrotoxicity by suppressing oxidative stress and supporting antioxidant defence systems.
