Abstract
learning nanochemistry as an emerging branch of chemistry requires a deep understandingof material structures at the nanoscale; however, the abstract nature of nanoscale phenomenamakes its education challenging. one novel strategy to address this challenge is leveragingnatural patterns and mimicking biological systems—an approach that can transformcomplex nano-concepts into tangible and inspiring experiences. the present research wasconducted to investigate the role of biomimicry in improving nanochemistry education. areview of domestic and international studies indicates that using natural structures—such asthe hydrophobicity of lotus leaves, the structural color of butterfly wings, and the strengthof mollusk shells—in the design of educational activities enhances conceptualunderstanding, strengthens observation skills, and fosters scientific creativity. in thefieldwork section of the research, a case study was carried out across three classes involvinga total of 71 participants. the first group was taught through the conceptual experiment ofthe 'lotus effect,' the second group by observing the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles, and the third group through a combination of both methods. the results showed that theaverage conceptual progress in the nature-inspired groups was 1.8 to 2.3 units higher thanthat of the observation group, and over 80% of students felt that this method established acloser connection between nano concepts and natural phenomena. accordingly, it isrecommended to revise chemistry curricula and design nature-based educational packages.
