a study on traditional and modern teaching methods in chemistry and a comparison of the performance of both approaches

Authors
Abstract    upon transitioning from primary and middle school to high school, students who studyin theoretical fields (such as experimental and mathematical sciences) are introduced tochemistry, which becomes one of their core subjects. chemistry is an important subjectin high school; however, many students tend to avoid it due to traditional teachingmethods. in traditional education, the teacher is the central figure in the classroom, andstudents are mostly passive listeners. this approach emphasizes rote memorization andoften neglects the practical application of concepts. in contrast, modern teachingmethods, such as collaborative and project-based learning and active learning, encourage students to engage in practical and group activities. these methods, byincorporating technology and new educational tools, make learning more engaging andeffective. furthermore, active and need-based learning helps students better understandconcepts and apply them in everyday life. this paper addresses the challenges oftraditional teaching, such as the lack of attention to individual differences and themonotony that leads to student fatigue, and emphasizes that to improve chemistryeducation, a change in teachers' attitudes and the adoption of modern teaching methodsis necessary to foster students' interest in learning.
