سنجش خوانایی بخش‌های شیمی، زیست‌شناسی و زمین‌شناسی کتاب علوم تجربی پایه هشتم براساس شاخص گانینگ‌فوگ

این پژوهش با هدف سنجش میزان خوانایی محتوای بخش‌های شیمی، زیست‌شناسی و زمین‌شناسی کتاب علوم تجربی پایه هشتم انجام شد. برای این منظور، بندهایی حدود صد کلمه‌ای از آغاز، میانه و پایان هر فصل به‌صورت تصادفی انتخاب و براساس روش گانینگ‌فوگ تحلیل گردید. در هر بند، تعداد جملات، میانگین طول جملات، تعداد کلمات دشوار و شاخص نهایی خوانایی محاسبه شد و سپس میانگین شاخص هر فصل و هر بخش علمی تعیین شد. یافته‌ها نشان داد بخش شیمی با مقدار 8.92 و بخش زمین‌شناسی با مقدار 8.94 از نظر خوانایی متناسب با سطح پایه هشتم است؛ اما بخش زیست‌شناسی با مقدار 9.51 دشوارتر است و از نظر سطح خوانایی به پایه نهم نزدیک می‌گردد. نتایج بیانگر این است که ساختار زبانی و میزان پیچیدگی متن در سه حوزه علمی یکنواخت نیست و بخش زیست‌شناسی نسبت به دو بخش دیگر سنگین‌تر بوده و کمتر با سطح مورد انتظار پایه هشتم همخوانی دارد. بر همین اساس، پیشنهاد می‌شود در تدوین بخش زیست‌شناسی از جملات کوتاه‌تر، واژگان ساده‌تر و ساختارهای زبانی شفاف‌تر استفاده شود و هماهنگی سطح خوانایی در سراسر کتاب درسی مدنظر قرار گیرد. همچنین بازنگری در حجم مطالب و تنظیم تدریجی دشواری مفاهیم می‌تواند به بهبود درک دانش‌آموزان و هم‌سطح‌سازی بخش‌های گوناگون کتاب درسی کمک کند.

readability assessment of the chemistry, biology, and geology sections of the eighthgrade experimental sciences textbook based on the gunning-fog index

this study aimed to assess the readability of the chemistry, biology, and geology sections of the 8th-gradescience textbook. for this purpose, randomly selected passages of approximately 100 words from thebeginning, middle, and end of each chapter were analyzed using the gunning fog index. for each passage, thenumber of sentences, average sentence length, number of difficult words, and the final readability index werecalculated. the average index for each chapter and scientific section was then determined. the findingsindicated that the chemistry section (8.92) and the geology section (8.94) were appropriate for the 8th-gradereading level, while the biology section (9.51) was more challenging, approaching the 9th-grade level. theresults suggest that the linguistic structure and textual complexity are not uniform across the three scientificdomains, with the biology section being denser and less aligned with the expected 8th-grade level. therefore,it is recommended that the biology content use shorter sentences, simpler vocabulary, and clearer linguisticstructures, and that readability consistency be considered throughout the textbook. additionally, revising thevolume of content and gradually adjusting the difficulty of concepts may enhance student comprehension andbalance the difficulty across different textbook sections.
